Ending Your Tenancy

If you decide to move out of your Teachers Housing Association home, please contact us using this form, or by telephone, and we will start the process.

If you are the next of kin, an executor of an estate, or a third party, we will need more information, which will include a copy of the death certificate, in order to legally end the tenancy. Please still complete this form, and we will be in contact to discuss what further information we require.

You will be required to give us a certain notice period, usually this is one calendar month, but please refer to your tenancy agreement for confirmation of this

What you need to know about moving out

We will contact you to arrange an appointment to carry out a full inspection of your property before you leave and we will inform you of any repair work you are required to complete.

  • You may need to pay for repairs or the replacement of damaged fixtures and fittings.
  • You’ll need to pay rent, utility bills, and council tax up to your tenancy end date.
  • If you leave any personal belongings, fixtures or furniture behind, we’ll need to charge you for removal costs.
  • Please remove any medical equipment before the tenancy ends e.g. hoists, hospital beds, stair lifts, and oxygen tanks etc.
  • During your notice period, we’ll fit a key safe for you to leave your keys in when you leave if there is no on-site manager for where you live.
  • If you leave your property before your notice date, please contact us so we can ensure the property is safe and secure.

We understand that leaving your current home can be a difficult decision, and we want to make the process as easy as possible for you.

Please get in touch, and we will be happy to help.
